Dr. Andre Alexander LLB, MA, SJD (distinction) is an experienced barrister and solicitor practising internationally in the fields of business, obligations, finance, criminal defence and medical malpractice.

Bar Affiliations

Andre is registered with the Solicitors Regulatory Authority to practice law in England and Wales and is a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of Fiji  (a jurisdiction that closely follows the English legal system).  He is also a member of the Law Society of England & Wales and the British & Irish Commercial Bar Association. In addition, he is a recognised foreign lawyer at the Bar of Costa Rica and a former member of the Federal Bar of Germany (Brandenburg) and the Order of the Dutch-Brussels Bar.

Academics & Awards

Andre has a UK Bachelor of Laws (professional law degree with medical and employment law modules) and a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice. He also has a professional Masters degree in behavioural science from a leading UK research university as well as a doctorate (distinction grade) in comparative European and English commercial law.

In 2020, Andre was recognised as an honouree by Diligent in its Modern Corporate Governance General Counsel category. In that year, he also served as a judge for the UK National Mediation Awards and was nominated for the award of Kings Counsel (hon.) by a Chief Justice for services to the international community as an English common lawyer. 

In 2021, Andre was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Medicine in recognition of his qualifications and experience in behavioural science and medical law.

Positions

Andre leads ABS&P International Law Firm which has recently been recognised by New World Report as the most innovative law firm in Costa Rica. and also by Corporate Livewire in 2023 as litigation firm of the year. He is Acting President & Chief Registrar at ICDRO – International Court of Dispute Resolution Online – which is a quasi-autonomous division of ABS&P operating as private dispute resolution court.
